I’ve been headed down the path of minimalism for the last year. We have lived in 3 different houses this year and it encouraged me to rid a lot of stuff. This has led me to simple Christmas decor.
What is needed for simple Christmas tree decor?
All you need are two or three small boxes of different sized ornaments, a tree with or without lights and an accent.
This was the first year I have incorporated beads. I was actually really impressed with how well they stuck to my tree. I thought they were going to fall right off but surprisingly they didn’t move!
These sweet little snowflakes were also used as one of my accents. Here in central Texas we don’t really get snow. I’ll take what I can get with these snowflake ornaments!
To get the right look on your tree, start big.
Sounds backwards, right? I mean that quite literally. I started decorating the tree by wrapping the beads (our tree is pre-lit), but the first ornaments I added were the largest in size.
Usually, I’ll start with the biggest ones and work my way to the smallest. I also work in a spiral fashion starting at the bottom of the tree.
Add accents!
After I had all of my ornaments on the tree in a spiraled display, I moved over to my accent ornament. Since I like to keep it simple, I used only one accent – the snowflake! I put the snowflakes in any empty spaces so it wasn’t too obviously I spiraled the tree.
If you look closely, you’ll be able to see the spiral!
Where do I get my pieces?
I used to do a real tree for Christmas until I realized how much of a mess it made. The smell of a real tree is unmet, but the upkeep of it is just too much.
I bought my pencil tree from Home Depot on sale a couple years ago after Christmas. You can find one just like it here. I love having a pencil tree because it’s slim, simple, and no mess. Those big trees are just too much for my average sized house.
My wicker Christmas Tree collar came from… you guessed it – Amazon. You can find it here.
That’s it! A quaint little Christmas tree that is simple and sweet.
Christmastime should not be stressful. It should be simple and sweet so you can enjoy the holidays with the ones you love.
