Meet Moby: Our (Not so) New Class C Camper

THIS IS MOBY:

This camper has been a long-awaited project for us. We had a bumper pull trailer/camper a few years ago and LOVED being able to camp and wander with our littles.

Since moving to Texas, we haven’t been able to travel as much because it takes 8 hours to get out of the state and on to some public land.

Add COVID restrictions in there and you basically can’t count on all restrooms being open when you stop.

We made a road trip to Colorado (before catching COVID 😉) and had to stop in multiple places because so many gas stations or Starbucks had their restrooms closed!

We decided we really wanted a class C camper. It’s one that you can hop in and drive.

We searched hard for about 6 months before coming across a well priced, low mileage class C that would fit our family of five.

We bought it on Christmas eve and by Christmas day, all of us were already in it, having a good ole time (while I was cleaning profusely).

We even drove the neighborhoods and looked at Christmas lights in it!

It’s been two days since we bought the class C camper. We have named him ‘Moby’ – shoutout to our friend Ryan who made sure that name stuck! – and we are already pulling things off the walls.

Here’s our plan:

  • Paint the walls
  • Paint the cabinets
  • Rebuild some of the cabinets
  • Replace the floors to LVP
  • Reupholster all the fabric
  • Update all the lights to LED push lights
  • New roller blinds
  • Peel & Stick tile in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Refinish Shower

In all honesty, when I first rode in it with the kids, I thought it was pretty sketchy. We didn’t have car seats in it though, so I had my older kids wanting to run back and forth between the couch and the dinette. With small car seats that we lock in, I think I will feel everyone is a lot safer.

We have a short trip about 5 hours away next week and I will report back on what I have learned! The best thing so far is having a bathroom RIGHT THERE. We don’t have to stop! It can only get better from here, right?!
