Board & Batten Inspo for the Playroom

I have been taking our Ravenstone house on, room by room.

I am anxiously waiting the big stuff we are doing later this year like floors and cabinets and countertops but until then, I’ll work on the behind the scenes rooms.

One of those rooms is our playroom / guestroom combo. We have the kids in the room every single day playing and running amuck so it has to be functional.

But… we also have guests staying in this room when they visit. Our couch pulls out into a sleeper and it’s pretty darn efficient use of space. I even have a secret toy storage in our coffee table.

Despite all that effort though, this room needs some TLC. It may be the only big room we haven’t touched.

Here is what it looks like now:

Yeah, nothing too exciting. We haven’t painted or anything in this room because I knew I wanted to redo it altogether.

My vision for this room is to have it bright and white with board and batten walls. The wall the couch is on will have wallpaper above the board & batten / wainscoting.

I am working with an AWESOME Etsy seller right now regarding a custom order so that one may be a few weeks out.

I’ll likely remove most, if not all, decor on the walls aside from the TV as well.

Here are pics of my inspiration. These DIYers are INCREDIBLE so check them out if you have a second!

1. Grey Board & Batten by Angela Marie Made

I love the simplicity of this one and the fact that it’s grey. I’ve considered painting mine grey because of house gorgeous this one turned out!

2. Wallpaper Print above the Board & Batten by Eleven Magnolia Lane:

This is very similar to what I expect ours will look like but a bit higher and a different wallpaper.

3. This stunning and elegant Board & Batten by Woods and Ivory:

This one is where I foresee the room going after I have decorated and replaced the floors. I can’t get enough of this photo!

One thing I am stuck on are those french doors in our playroom.

They are very useful with loud kids and surprisingly, they block out most of the noise! Imagine that!

But I think I could do something pretty and grand with them! The windows are necessary with this being the kids playroom.

What do you think? Any ideas for how to make those more grand while keeping a windowed concept?

You know my decor/style is still maturing but I’d either keep them bright white with basic flat glass windows, or paint them a fun/complimenting color on the inside. Probably keep them relaxed on the outside so when totally open they are a little decoration but closed they are classic. Haha. Can’t wait to see what you do!

Love this idea!! As the room transforms I’ll have to peek at colors! Sometimes I’m a bit narrow-minded with color. Thanks for the input!
