Back in our Ross Lake house in Colorado, we had a large oversized farmhouse looking covered porch making it easy to add front porch decor.
I LOVED that thing.
It was enclosed too so I could have my littles up on it with me without worrying they were going to run off!
Since moving back to Texas, we gained a LOT in our new home. We have a covered back patio (see my summer decor post on that here) but we also traded that for our very small front porch.
What you see in the pictures below is literally the entire front porch.
I called it a stoup the other day and my husband laughed because it sounds so sad. It’s true though!
Here is what the front porch (stoup) has looked like for the last 7 MONTHS:
I really wanted to brighten it up and make it look more homey. As you can see I didn’t do much but the small changes I did make really had a big impact!
I brought in some color because –
LEMONS ARE A NEW FAVORITE OF MINE! Especially on the front porch!
I also added more greenery, and the biggest thing was I added a large patterned rug to layer with.
It makes the entire porch feel a lot more cozy.
THIS LEMON BLUEBERRY WREATH Y’ALL.
Evermore Decor Designs on Etsy is AMAZING. You cannot beat the quality of this gorgeous thing! And although she is living in Portland now, she is a Texas girl!
How could I resist shopping from her store!?
I paired the wreath with a black and white striped fabric ribbon from Amazon.
The hardest part for my front porch decor was finding an outdoor rug that fit my space, matched my style, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
I don’t know if it’s COVID related but basically everything was out of stock. I ordered one from Home Depot (yeah who knew!?) and while I was waiting on it to arrive, I stopped into Michael’s.
The Boho outdoor rug I stumbled across there is what is pictured below! It’s black/charcoal boho design and a 4×6.
It was like $20 or something crazy! The others I came across online were $40 and up!

The last piece I found was from Home Goods. I was looking for a lantern and walked out with an entire faux olive tree. Y’all know I love olive trees.
Check out my best faux olive trees round up from a couple weeks ago if you’re in the market for a good one!
Next week, I’ll take you back inside to see the reveal of the playroom/guest room combo!
