I am THRILLED to be participating as a guest in the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge (ORC).
This is my first year participating officially but I have followed along for YEARS! I’ll be working on the renovation of our Ravenstone kitchen over the next six weeks. It’s a lovely kitchen to begin with, it really is. To many people, they wouldn’t change a single thing!
Buuuuut we tend to customize our homes as soon as we move into them. We like to create work for ourselves, you know, because we aren’t busy enough with 3 kids not in school yet. Ha! Jokes.
Kitchens demand a lot of of money and a lot of chaos to live in. Especially when everything is being done yourself.
Here is our current kitchen:

There are so many things I love about this kitchen, untouched.
I love how huge the island is. It sits right in the middle of everything. It looks out into our living room for the ultimate “open concept” living space.
Believe it or not, there is a TON of storage. In our Ross Lake house, we had maybe 4 cabinets. To say we downsized our kitchen items is an understatement.
Moving into this Ravenstone house, we had (and still do) a lot of cabinets and drawers that are completely empty. I LOVE IT.
Woops, my minimalist is showing!
Kitchen Plans Moving Forward
We have already started some little changes on this kitchen, (like lights) but we are beginning the HUGE changes.
Here is an original picture I have of the Ravenstone Kitchen, the day we moved in, just over a year ago:
If you want to see the entire photo collection of this house the day we moved in, I have a post about it here!
My goal is somewhat of an elegant french country farmhouse.
Think modern farmhouse kitchen with a bright white feel and some elegant touches.
Here is a mood board I created to give you a better idea of the direction I am heading:

In every kitchen we do, I REQUIRE an apron front farmhouse sink.
They are simply gorgeous! Inspo below from Wayfair!
I need your opinions, though…
We are replacing the cabinets to a white shaker style cabinet. What do you think we should do with the corbels over the hood vent?
Should we replace them to a boxy style? Build new ones? I have searched high and low with no luck finding ones that will fit!
Comment below and tell me your thoughts!
It is beautiful now but I’m So excited to see how you refresh this kitchen. I think I would replace the corbels to the boxy style. I’m sure what ever you do will be gorgeous.
Thank you so much! I am soooo excited about this HUGE project and just a LITTLE stressed! HA! I like the idea of boxy style corbels!! Have you seen them sold anywhere?
